Pantone Matching System (or PMS)

The Pantone Matching System (or PMS) is a standardization system that helps identify colors and match them with the help of the Pantone Numbering system. The numbers consist of three or four digits followed by a C, U, or M letter, indicating coated, uncoated, or matte.

In PMS, the color palette includes 1,1114 colors. The matching system helps prevent color inconsistencies between different digital and print media types. PMS is designed to work with all kinds of equipment used to produce colors. It can also create other colors besides generating the standard CMYK colors in prints.
